Book 2, Progress…

I’m still working on the rough draft for book 2, Treasure on the Trail. My schedule still looks good. I should be able to finish the rough draft near the end of January. If things go well, I can get the book edited and finish the read-out-loud phase before January ends. Looking at the days of the week, I should be able to wrap it up this weekend and start the editing process next week. That would leave next Saturday (the 25th) for the read-out-loud portion. Then, fixes and publish.

I still need to get covers ordered for the next three books. I’ll try to do that by this weekend. Then, I’ll have a cover for the little % complete image on the side of this blog (or the bottom if you’re viewing this on a phone). Murder at Outlaw Cabin is next in line. I’d like to start the rough draft on the first day of February, but it depends on the time available to work out the scenes needed for the book. I don’t have any scenes figured out yet. I just have some rough notes of what I want to do with that story (that’s how it always starts, then it turns into a frenzy of activity).

If I can keep up my production rate, I should be able to finish the five-book set by the end of April. After that, I’ll switch back to writing the next Daphne book (Shadows in the Bloodline). I just ordered a cover for that book, so I can post a progress icon on the galacticorebooks.com website. I’ll also turn on Ads for the five-book Q series and wait for stats to come in. At that point, there will probably be a flurry of people descending on this website. Right now, it gets a visitor or two every once in a while. If things do well, I’ll start an email list and create a reader magnet. It’ll have to be a Q mystery that is outside the series, though I haven’t given it any thought yet. Also, if sales do well, I’ll extend the five-book series into a ten-book series. There is no end to possible stories I could create for this series. Like the Daphne Blazefire series, all I have to do is sit down for a thirty-minute session and dream up story ideas.
