I ordered covers for the first two books. I don’t expect the first one to be ready until next week or possibly later. I don’t have an official publishing date for the first book, and I can safely say that it won’t happen until November 17th at the earliest. I’ll shoot for that date. I’m on the final grammar checking and read-through. There is one more step that occurs before publishing, and that’s the Read-Out-Loud. My wife and I will spend a Saturday and Sunday reading a book out loud, alternating scenes. That is followed by any last-minute fixes. You know, stuff like plot holes, awkward sentences, words that are spelled right, but the wrong word (like trail vs. trail).
Here’s the blurb for the first book (A Trail of Clues):
Quentin Aldridge, who everyone calls Q, is your average computer nerd with a not-so-average companion—his loyal dog, Bolt, who just so happens to be a robot. But no one in the small neighborhood of Suncrest knows that. Q prefers it that way, keeping his quiet life of coding, coffee, and walks on the trail.
When a local hiker is found dead on the very path Q frequents, he finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation. As the town’s suspicions grow, the police begin to focus their attention on him. Desperate to clear his name, Q teams up with his trusty robotic dog to uncover the truth.
With Bolt’s secret abilities and Q’s tech-savvy mind, they must unravel a web of lies, hidden motives, and digital clues before the police put Q behind bars.
Anyway, writing the rough draft of the second book, titled “Treasure on the Trail,” will start pretty soon. Once I’m deep into that book and the first book is published, I’ll get the blurb and cover information ready for the next one or two books.
Oh, and as soon as I get a cover for the first book, I’ll post a picture here (and fix the % complete widget on the right side to have the correct cover). So, you’ll get to see what the book will look like before it’s published.
Here’s the blurb for the second book (Treasure on the Trail):
The Utah treasure hunt is on, and this year, the prize is enormous. To find the treasure chest and claim the prize, contestants must solve a murder mystery. When Q and Fin become embroiled in the mystery, someone from the local community gets murdered for real. Now the race is on to find out who committed the murder. The local police have investigators with sophisticated equipment and laboratories that can sift through clues. What they don’t have is a robot dog that can collect evidence in real-time. A dog that everyone trusts, even the killer.
